How is he supposed to love her when all she does is make his life a living hell?

Given the villages laws I would say they care more about being powerful. They practice martial arts to be powerful. Ranma is powerful only as a side effect of the martial arts.Atlan wrote:Keep in mind a few things:
Shampoo's village seems to take martial arts very seriously. In a culture where many people are at least at Kuno levels of dangerousness, there is bound to be some strangeness. Add in all the magical stuff and you've got a culture which is a lot different than ours.
Aren't Link and Pink from a near by village.Atlan wrote:If people as skilled with flowers as Pink and Link are even mildly common, then courtship in the amazon village must be very strange. Add to that the fact that every amazon we've seen is a martial artist, and you've got a culture is more like something out of history (or from the Discovery channel). A potiential partner is judged primarily on strength- hence the rule about being defeated by an outsider. That would seem to extend to rivals for love- note how Shampoo interacts with Akane, Ukyo and Kodachi- she takes the idea of proving herself better than them very strongly, yet seldom hesitates to work with them.
She like all the girls treats Ranma like a disobedient pet. A peace of propperty, and she often treats him worse then many of the other girls. They love him?Atlan wrote:I'm not saying that she only loves Ranma for his strength though. I believe that for the Amazons, being a skilled warrior is like being rich or famous here- it isnt enough for love on it's own, but it goes a long way to help love along.
So, what you are saying is Shampoo tries to RAPE Ranma agian and again, but fails because she is incompetent.Atlan wrote:Despite the frequency of Shampoo's attempts to drug Ranma, many of them are childish. Appart from the Love Pill incident, most of the drugs just make Ranma kiss or hug her. That, to me, says that she isnt intrested in forcing Ranma to love her- she believes he alreaddy does. What she wants is for him to addmit it, or at least show her some affection.
