This is an idea that has been in my head baging to be let out, since I have other thing I am working on I thought I would post it here in hopes that someone would write it. It's a Ranma / Sailor Moon cross in case you can't guess from the name.
One day while 'training' with Happosai Genma gets badly hurt and ends up in the Hospital. There he meets and falls in love with a young intern named Uma* Mizuno and they get married and have two kids Ranma and Ami. Now for the training trip there are two ways it could go:
1. Genma could say that he is taking the kids for a short training trip and disappears. It takes Uma a year to find them after she does Genma convinces her to come with them.
2. Happosai is mad at Genma for 'being disrespectable to his master' ei not helping him steal pantys any more and attacks his family and they are forced to leave.
Anyway they go to Jusenkyo Ranma and Genma both get the same curses as in cannon and Ami gets a otter curse. They stay with the Amazons for a while and while there Herb sees Ami and decides he is in love with her. After a few months they head back to Japan to see the Tendos and Ami meets a certain black cat.



*I don't know Ami mother's first name but I saw this name in a fanfic.

Given Genma's attitudes and philosophy in training I don't see him bringing a girl along even his own daughter.

It's also a little hard to imagine Dr Mizuno carrying arround the Saotome Honor blade or accepting a Sepuku contract. As a person wanting to be a doctor she has a need to heal people not exactly a Nodoka replacment posibility there.

Why do you want Ami cursed? What does it do for the cross?

First of all, you need a spell-checker.

I think it sounds okay so far but it needs more detail; does Ami awaken first instead of Usagi? Will Ranma be actively involved with the senshi or will Ami be hiding her identity from him? If it's just another Ranma/Sailor Moon crossover, it'll fall flat on it's face. It needs something to really distinguish it, set it apart from all the dead crossovers that didn't go anywhere.

Metroanime did something similar with "A Fistful of Omake," probably his best-known work outside his creation of the pokegirls. Personally, I'd like to see this elaborated on.

I could see parts of this working, I wouldn't try to create a Nodoka replacement though. It would work better if Ami was Ranmas half-sister. If you don't want to make Genma out to be total slime, perhaps after a few years of telling Ranma that his mother is dead he starts to half belive it himself.

The running theme of this I'd actually love to see is Ranma finding out about the Senshi, but rather then jump into the fight for the usual reasons, he spends most of the time trying to "protect" his new baby sister. Sometimes that means fighting it out, and others it means grabbing her up and running, usually at the worst time.

There was a story where Nodoka was Ami's mother, and Mizuno was her maiden name. IIRC, Ranma found them -- unknowing he had a younger sister -- because Genma died and the adress was in his pack or whatever.

Who said anything about a Nodoka replacement? There wouldn't be a Sepuku contract in this version Genma would just say I know you are busy with your work so I will take the kids on a short trip so they don't get in your way.

Actually I was thinking of having her come in a bit later. Ami and Ranma go to see Rei, who they met on the training journey, and deciding to find out why the buses are disappearing. Then after that is over then Rei and Ami find out that they are Sailor Senshi. So Ranma would know about the senshi (and be buging Luna for a magic item of his own)

Hmm, I don't remember Ami being Ranma's sister in that one. Then again there could be more then one story with that kind of start. In the one I remember Ryoga turned into a rabbit and the Tendo daughters ended up staying with Nodoka so they could be closer to the Senshi.
