らんま & Tachikoma

The title just about says it all. Searches are failing me. I'm looking for stories where a close to cannon Ranma somehow ends up in a situation where s\he gets to interact and possibly work with Tachikoma think tanks. The blue ones from the first 2 Ghost in the Shell series.

I know there's a Cameo in the story "In the Shadow of the Moon" but the Tachikoma appears to have been removed from the rewrite. So its not going to come of that story. Any other suggestions where Ranma is still the Ranma we know instead of some thing more OC borrowing his name would be appreciated.

Character Growth is allowable but it has to make sense and not make Ranma into one of the cannon cyborgs from GitS.

Is the hiragana there for Ranma 1/2? I am studying Japanese in a rather haphazard way, but the one area where I have next to no knowledge is their writing. If you had not mentioned Ranma in your post, I wouldn't have even been able to guess what you meant. Just something for you to consider when making posts of this variety, as there could be people who have read what you are looking for but won't be able to tell what you are looking for because of not being able to read your post.

I like Ghost in the Shell, and those tanks are cute and fun, but I have never seen this variety of crossover. I wouldn't have posted except that I felt the first part of my comment was needed. Good luck.

Sorry but the only way I can think of for someone to not know it is if they never bothered to look for pictures or never saw anything for it in Original language. They are the exact same characters used in the Title printed on all of everything that mentions it in Original Language and in the corner of most posters Some times even visible with the Romanji equivalent over it instead of replacing it.

But I don't think I have ever made a thread with this らんま in the title where I didn't bring up Ranma's name in the first post too. Oh try an image search on Google using the characters and you can find allot more fan art than you can typing Ranma as the search term.

Actually, I've read quite a bit of the manga, but only on my computer, usually not even looking at the covers. The problem with the symbols is that I would have had to pay a great deal of attention to them to recognize them as casually used here, whereas I tend to skip over hiragana, katakana, and kanji because I can't read them at all. If I had money to spare, I might pick up some books on the subject and start seriously studying it, but so far I've picked up what I have from watching dubbed anime and reading things such as fanfics which reference Japanese. The way your post was written, it seemed like you almost didn't include Ranma's name at all in romanji, thinking that the title was sufficient to convey your intent. I posted partially as a request that if you use Japanese characters in the future you clarify their meaning for those of us who don't know them well enough to recognize them.

I should add that on some browsers or without the right fonts, dropping the characters in the thread title the way they have been here makes the thread title unreadable.

While I can think of several Ranma and GITS stories, I can only think of one where he interacts with them, and that mainly comes down to him tearing them apart. Not really what you are looking for, and thus why I never bothered replying.

Why was he targeted? I didn't ask for stories like that because I have trouble seeing how a Ranma that is anything like the one in the actual series material would be fighting against them.

I cannot think of any story in which a canon Ranma winds up meeting GITS people. I can think of a very short thread on the addventure where Ranma winds up reincarnating as the Major's kid, but it isn't anything that really resembles what you want.

Honestly, even though they are both major series, I see it as a rather difficult proposition to cross these two with people remaining in character. The worlds and the circles the people in each travel in are just seem radically different. I'm sure it could and has been done, but I've never seen it.

So much for hoping a GitS fan would read one of the BGC fics where Ranma's semi immortal with that whole Spring of Drowned Young Girl curse loophole and give it a shot. This whole search was more or less from a stray thought of Ranma somehow being able to tap data nets with Ki projection without having any cyberization at all. After all with so many people's ghosts tied into the network it is bound to have a spiritual presence or resonance by now. But that would definitely not have been something someone would have already written into a fic so I had hoped someone would have still at least had him play with the think tanks without messing up his nor the tanks characters. Being so dangerous yet so naive or innocent at the same time just made me think they and Ranma would have allot in common.

Crap... forum seemingly ate my post... here is reply attempt #2.

Ehhh... I've seen several Ranma and GITS crossovers over the years... they just were not what you wanted.


In any case, what I was refering to was 'Just Won't Die', the Nene chapter. Ranma and Nene go to the GITS world for research (BGC Nene learns there is another version of her in the GITS world from Ranma, and wanted to meet her)... He manages to piss Motoko off into sort of going on a crazed manhunt/vengance quest against him. (seems she dislikes being manhandled, then thrown into car trunks and locked in).

Every attempt by Ranma to calm her down just makes her madder. At one point she sends about 6 or 7 of the things against him... he basically toys with them, busting their legs.. but at another point, they manage to nab Nene... that is when the real destruction begins.

Sadly... he stopped the Nene arc when it was really getting good, then concentrated ont he Nartuto arc instead. It was after that he stopped work on the thing.

EDIT: Ranma at one point thinks the things neat and was hoping Motoko would give him one (as if).

At another, he compares the developing relationship between him and Motoko as to him and Ryoga.

It was painful for me to read any of the story after they cure the curses so I kinda didn't get that far. And yeah that isn't what I was looking for.
