The Colombians might have reason to try it. They hybridize plants quite often after all. Narcotics and such.

Why did you have to do that when D.E.S. wasn't home? Besides every secret lair also has a vehicle entrance, if not two.

Leave one door open for DES to return if he's out. You can also see if he tries to exit from it. That way coming or going you can see about ending the threat.
