The Dirty Pair are perfect for copper, and Usagi is a good choice for samarium, But don't trust a periodic chart that doesn't have sailors Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto for the uranium-neptunium-plutonium triple play.

I, too, was surprised to not see Puu in the plutonium square.

Others I did recognise were:
(B) Belldandy.
(Bi) Binchou-tan.
(Os) Me-tan; she's an OS-tan.
(Rh) Hakurei Reimu.

And just what is that for mercury? Sure isn't Ami! Technetium doesn't have a tech like Washuu or Kaolla Su. Tellurium has a maid, of all things, rather than (say) Tuxedo Kamen - but they're picking girls, so that's okay.

Looks like there is no single rule to the character selection.

A few lines of guesswork from me:
Beryllium: ReBEcca Miyamoto from "Pani Poemi Dash".
Europium: Eureka from "Eureka Seven".
Gadolinium: GodDess Yurie Hitotsubashi from "Kamichu!" - https://safebooru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=2073287
Helium: Henrietta from "Gunslinger Girl".
Iridium: Iris Chateaubriand from "Sakura Wars".
Thorium; "To Heart": Akari Hamigishi.
Wolfram/Tungsten: "W Wish".
Zinc; Zange from "Kannagi".

Favourite… well, for some values of 'favourite'. It's RUV's black-and-white era test card. The text, I believe, was overlaid with the subtitler.

With colour came the Philips PM5544 card.

That fuselage does not follow the area rule. But it could be the mutant offspring of the Super Guppy and the Airbus Beluga.

I can't remember where this one came from ...

PlaneCegination.jpg

But it fits the Mutant Offspring theme.

Mercury appears to be Yin from Darker than black. And i have absolutely no idea what the connection is supposed to be.
No wait, i just looked in the wrong place too quickly, just seeing the "g" and accidentally looked at Silver instead, where Yin sounds vaguely like gin which means silver... *sigh*
I think i recognise the Hg as well, but can't place it. Rozen maiden?? Mmm, "Suigintou"?

Technetium may be Mizuho and Kei from Onegai teacher. Which makes no sense at all unless the relevant part is TeaCher...

Thallium has Shirai Kuroko, which also makes absolutely no sense that i can think of.

Sawako from Kimi ni todoke for Chromium, ok her last name is Kuronuma which almost has the right letters, which is apparently enough...
Because Ruthenium has Lucy from Elfen lied. Farfetched is apparently the starting point for this.

Ok, Titanium has Taiga(nicknamed Tiger) from Toradora... Rg has Misaka Mikoto AKA RailGun...

But what ever does Yomiko from Read or die have to do with Pb?
Oh no, it's another R equals L... Read and Yomiko Readman...

B for Belldandy, N for Nanoha, O for Osaka, As for Asuka... Some certainly are understandable, but the rest???

I think i should go sleep... :P

Looks like Airbus hired Nils Holgersson as aircraft designer.

The joke here is that Nils Holgersson was a (very) small boy that travelled the length and breadth of Sweden on goose-back. That Airbus should really have been a SAAB, but…

Now I'm imagining a TV series in which Nils is a young private pilot that goes holidaying around Sweden in his ex-Flygvapen SAAB Safir and gets into various adventures enroute.

Nils Holgersson is based on the books of Selma Lagerlöf: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selma_Lagerl%C3%B6f - Specifically this book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wonde ... es_of_Nils which comes from 1906/1907. And that last Wikipedia article refers to the japanese cartoon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wonde ... (TV_series).

Got the DVD set (all 52 episodes) in my collection... Funny thing tho... the DVD's have been done on both sides... So once done with one side, you flip the DVD, pop it back in, and watch the rest :) I recall it was 9 or so DVD's in total

The dutch intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo9f_c6wRd0
The german intro (tho the statement of the title in the clip at the end makes me think Poland or something): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMjfj6lr6Rs

I can find the dutch, french and german versions of some episodes on YouTube... none in english tho...

But I can see (on the prior picture) where the inspiration for the name came from :)
