Long ago (I think John W. Campbell was still alive) some observant soul said something to the effect that "Science Fiction is full of good authors named Smith." George O. Smith was one of the authors he was talking about. And there are a lot of Smiths in SF!! Just to list a few:

George O. Smith -- best remembered for the Venus Equilateral stories. He also stole away John W. Campbell's first wife.
Edward Elmer Smith -- His Skylark stories invented Space Opera, and his Lensman books perfected it.
Evelyn E. Smith -- she also wrote romances and mysteries and devised crossword puzzles
Cordwainer Smith -- Strange and poetic SF
L. Neil Smith -- Libertarian SF
George Henry Smith -- there were at least three authors writing as George H. Smith, but G. Henry was the SF writer
Clark Ashton Smith -- One of the "Big Three" of Weird Tales; more fantasy than SF
Thorne Smith -- More fantasy than SF. He wrote the Topper books, among others

And there are probably more. I've read books by all of them except George H. Smith.
