I don't know the guy, and going through a 100 or so anime per year from 1985 through 1989 doesn't appeal to me.

I would have thought that, but I don't recall any women with black hair in it that was up close, then again I only watched A-ko a week ago so I might have forgotten by now.

Actually Wanda, it's Mousse from the circus ep when he first shows up as MuMu the duck. He's just appeared in front of Akane and is about to try kidnap her again. When I considered the unmissable discrepancy in style and quality (changed from average to OVA for just a moment) I realised no one would recognise this single clip as the Ranma 1/2 TV series.
